About Otávio Santiago

Otávio Santiago is the founder of Atomique Fetish, an editorial platform dedicated to fetish design, erotic aesthetics, power structures, and cultural identity.

Born in Brazil, Otávio lived in Berlin for over fifteen years — a period that deeply informed both his personal trajectory and professional practice. During this time, he became a German citizen and engaged closely with the city’s underground cultures, particularly its electronic music, fetish, and club scenes.

Berlin functioned not only as a place of residence, but as a formative cultural environment. Otávio’s understanding of fetish culture developed through long-term proximity and participation, ranging from small-scale underground contexts to international events and fairs across Europe and beyond. This experience is grounded in continuity and cultural literacy rather than external observation.

This sustained engagement shapes the editorial voice of Atomique Fetish, which approaches fetish culture through the lenses of consent, ritual, identity, and design — treating it as a cultural system rather than a spectacle.

In parallel, Otávio built his career as a graphic designer closely connected to Berlin’s electronic music scene. His work became intertwined with the city’s club culture, contributing visual identities, artworks, and communication materials for institutions within the scene, including projects associated with Berghain and the electronic music label BPitch Control, founded by Ellen Allien.

At the intersection of fetish culture, electronic music, design, and architecture, Otávio’s practice examines how aesthetics, power, and desire are structured and communicated. Through Atomique Fetish, he brings together research, visual culture, history, and contemporary practices to explore fetish as design, ritual, and philosophy.
